A Performance Tracking Platform for Managers

ExamFX, an insurance and securities Pre-licensing platform, needed to expand its reach to ensure high throughput rates, fill training deficiencies, and provide more comprehensive data analytics for enhanced training.

Aspiring Insurance Agents/Financial Representatives rely on ExamFX for their Pre-licensing needs. Managers from over 3000+ companies use ExamFx to monitor individual study progression and provide necessary support. 

​

THE CHALLENGE

The managers at financial companies are struggling to understand employee performance in pre-licensing training through existing data reports in their limited time and resources.

MY ROLE

I led the Product redesign by partnering with a UX Researcher, 2 Product Owners, 1 Data Scientist and an Engineering team.

DISCOVERY & RESEARCH

We conducted user research to understand the nuances of manager needs who hire and train individuals at financial institutions, or at a home office or service center. They are responsible for actively monitoring learners’ performance and intervening as necessary to improve pass rates for certification exams.

As part of discovery, we identified two types of Managers -

Manager who oversees larger groups of up to 250 learners

KEY INSIGHTS​

​

  • Crucial data is buried deep under the reports thereby making the learner performance metrics obscured

  • Managers are failed to keep an eagle eye on the candidates with the greatest need for support

  • Managers not able to accurately predict how many learners will pass their certifications and therefore be eligible for hire in a certain insurance or financial services position.   

  • Limited to zero access to suggestions on how to intervene and help "at-risk" students with remediation steps 

DESIGN ITERATIONS

I explored several concepts, received feedback from clients, which helped in optimizing and refining the prototype over a period of 3 months. Below you can see the progression of some of my designs.

IMPACT
The Redesign enhanced manager access to student information with various predetermined views of student activity, alerts of improper activity and recommended intervention for students who are off track.

The modernized report tremendously helped managers in monitoring At-Risk students and plan timely remediation steps. Managers realized better decision making through score trends, predictive analytics and therefore analyzing the certainty of eligibility for hire. The modern report helped managers in reducing the analysis time from an average of 2 hours to less than 30 seconds.

​ExamFX gained 8% growth in new user accounts which played a crucial role in the company's acquisition of 'Training Consultants'.
